Summary, etc. The organic farming is mainly aimed at supplementary and complementary approach to the existing production systems specially focused on niche crops and areas (5to 10 %) having low input use systems. Agro climatically India represents 15 major agro-climatic zones and 127 NARP zones. But, the technologies for pursuing the organic production are scattered and not available at one place. Therefore, an attempt was made by the editors to synthesize the all available technologies and strategies with special reference to 15 agro-climatic zones of the country. The first chapter of the book deals with general issues highlighting the status of organic farming in India specially the prospects, technologies and strategies in general and major concerns in particular. Chapter two and three deals with the status, prospects, scope, strategies and technological evidences of organic farming in western Himalayan region involving Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in particular with few references to Jammu & Kashmir state too. In chapter four, various concerns of organic farming with technological evidences and strategies are discussed with special reference to North Eastern States of India. The chapter five highlights the prospects, technologies and strategies of organic farming in West Bengal. In chapter six the organic farming related issues, prospects, technologies & strategies are discussed with special references to Bihar and some emphasis on Jharkhand and Eastern U.P. In chapter seven, the organic farming related issues, experimental evidences, technological advances and strategies are discussed in respect of upper Gangatic plain zone in general & western Uttar Pradesh in particular. In chapter eight, the prospects of organic farming in trans-gangatic plain zone have been explored with experimental evidences and future strategies for the state of Punjab. The chapter nine highlights the present scenario, experimental evidences and management technologies for selected crops for the eastern plateau and hills zone in general and state of Chhattisgarh in particular. In the chapter ten, technologies and strategies relevant to the central plateau and hill zone of India in general and state of Madhya Pradesh in particular are discussed. In chapter eleventh, the prospects of organic farming in western plateau and hill zone of India with special reference of Maharashtra are discussed with highlight of technological evidences and strategies. The chapter 12 and 13 deals with southern plateau and hills zone involving states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Various aspects related to organic farming are covered with sound technological innovations and strategies to promote organic farming under rainfed situations of Southern States. In chapter 14, the prospects of organic farming in East coast especially in state of Odisha while in West coast especially in Kerala with emphasis on spices are highlighted in chapter 15. The chapter 16 deals with Gujarat plains and hills specially Gujarat state while chapter 17 deals with dry areas of Rajasthan. The last chapter18, deals with all the relevant aspects of organic farming in Island zone specially Andaman – Nicobar. As such, all the agro-climatic zones with relevant technologies and strategies are covered under various chapters as highlighted above.
